Rachel Rusk is an interdisciplinary artist from Cincinnati, Ohio currently residing in Baltimore, MD. Rusk’s material practice centers around the cultivation and use of natural dyes, growing sculptures from various living media, digital fabrication, and handcrafting; honoring their respective life cycles and histories. Rusk has presented their collaborative research on two separate occasions at the MoMA, New York City.
Their art has been featured alongside pioneers in the field of Bioart such as Joe Davis, Suzanne Anker, and Heather Dewey-Hagborg. Her practice traces an evolving bond with the lands she has resided on, the lives she has stewarded, and the storytelling reflected in the traditions of craft that she utilizes.
